Information You Submit
A third-party provider receives the name, phone number, or address entered into a search box. Our servers do not retain a copy of those queries. When you contact us, we receive the details you choose to send and use them to answer.
Automatic Technical Data
Standard hosting logs may record an IP address, browser type, requested pages, and time. We review grouped data to maintain the service and understand page use. Basic analytics and advertising measurement may rely on cookies or comparable technology.
How We Use Data
We use limited data to operate the service, repair errors, measure visits, and improve content. We neither sell visitor lists nor create profiles of individual readers.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
How We Protect Your Data
The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Privacy Choices
Rights to access, correct, or delete personal data vary by jurisdiction. Iowa has no broad private-sector consumer privacy statute identified in the project research, so applicable federal and other state rights may still depend on where a visitor lives. Because we retain very little, a request normally means checking contact messages and available logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Records held by Iowa, Cerro Gordo County, or Mason City are outside our control and must be addressed with their custodian.
Updates to This Policy
Any change to this policy will be posted on this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
